About this artwork

By the process of elimination leaving only the 'good' bits, appeared not only interesting layering of tape, vintage wallpaper, acrylic paint, oil sticks and graphite stick, but it also revealed the delicate but figurative plant formations. Slow, careful layers of a subtle mint green - a delicate approach I don't often practice, completed the ethereal snapshot. The Latin naming process quickly became clear and necessary as the garden reference is not only one of botanical origin, but where my mother can recite letter for letter the correct Latin botanical title of each plant in her garden. Greek classics lecturer from way back, that Dutch woman has an amazing memory bank for languages and where they came from!!
